Genomic DNA was obtained from a preparation of Streptococcus sanguinis (S. sanguinis), strain VMC66. S. sanguinis, strain VMC66 was isolated from a patient with a subacute case of bacterial endocarditis. S. sanguinis, strain VMC66 (HMP ID 9398) is a reference genome for The Human Microbiome Project (HMP). HMP is an initiative to identify and characterize human microbial flora. The complete genome of S. sanguinis, strain VMC66 was sequenced by the Human Genome Sequencing Center at the Baylor College of Medicine (GenBank: AEVH00000000). Note: The HMP material used for DNA extraction was taxonomically classified by the depositor. Quality control of HMP organisms is only performed to demonstrate that the material produced by BEI Resources is identical to the deposited material. HM-275D has been qualified for PCR applications by amplification of approximately 1500 bp of the 16S ribosomal RNA gene. Each vial contains 0.7 to 1.5 µg of bacterial genomic DNA in TE buffer (10 mM Tris-HCl and 1 mM EDTA, pH ~ 8.0).
