Entamoeba histolytica (E. histolytica), strain HB-301:NIH (ATCC ® 30190™, NR-176) was monoxenized and cloned via microisolation, then reaxenized to produce strain HB-301:NIH CL-1-7.

E. histolytica, HB-301:NIH was deposited to the ATCC ® in 1972 by Dr. Louis S. Diamond, Laboratory of Parasitic Diseases, NIAID, NIH. E. histolytica, HB-301:NIH contains a polyhedral virus and it is not known if this isolate (HB-301:NIH CL-1-7) contains the virus.

Each vial of NR-2596 contains approximately 0.5 mL of culture in cryopreservative.
