Recombinant Shiga toxin type 2 was expressed in Escherichia coli (E. coli) and purified by affinity chromatography.

The sequences of the structural genes of Shiga toxin type 2 for multiple strains of E. coli have been determined. The sequence of the Shiga toxin type 2 operon in the expression plasmid used to prepare NR-4478 is shown in on the Product Information Sheet. The crystal structure of Shiga toxin type 2 from E. coli has been solved (PMB: 1R4P).

Each vial of NR-4478 contains approximately 11 µg of Shiga toxin type 2 suspended in PBS.
