How to Request Materials

To access your BEI Web Portal Account:

NIH Human Microbiome Project

Available reagents in the Human Microbiome Project Repository (HMP) can be viewed by public users through the BEI Resources online web catalog*. Researchers interested in obtaining these materials will need to register with BEI Resources. Once the registration application has been reviewed and approved by NIAID, a login name and password will be sent for ordering. HMP Repository reagents from BEI Resources can only be requested online.

Once you receive your username and password, you can login to the BEI Resources website as a registered user. You can find the reagent you need by using the Human Microbiome Project link or through the Advanced Catalog Search. From the search results, use the catalog number links to view the product detail pages. Click the "Request this item" button on the product detail pages to place the item into your shopping cart.

There is no charge for the materials themselves but recipients are responsible for shipping and handling fees. HMP materials may require permits before they are shipped according to federal regulatory compliance requirements. To display the permits needed for a particular item, select the permits link on the item’s product detail page.

*ATCC cultures referenced in the Human Microbiome Project will be available through the ATCC website.
