Available Omicron-Related SARS-CoV-2 Reagents

The SARS-CoV-2 Variant-of-Concern Omicron, also referred to as B.1.1.529, remains the dominant variant currently circulating globally, with subvariant BA.2.12.1 rapidly spreading in the United States.1,2,3,4 Omicron variant isolates representing BA.1 and BA.2 sub-lineages are now available in the BEI Resources catalog, with several others in production such as BA.2.12.1 and BA.4.

Other interesting variants, an XD isolate from France containing markers of both Delta (AY.4 lineage) and Omicron variants resulting from multiple recombination events and a B.1.640.2 isolate, will also be made available shortly.5,6 In addition to the isolates, two SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) glycoproteins from Omicron lineages B.1.1.529 (NR-56447) and AY.4 (NR-56517), as well as a genomic RNA from lineage B.1.1.529 (NR-56494), are available for order.

A full, up-to-date listing of all currently available and upcoming SARS-CoV-2 isolates and proteins, as well as genomic RNA, monoclonal antibodies, plasmids, peptide arrays and inactivated virus preparations, is available on the newly updated SARS-CoV-2 resource page on the BEI Resources website. New features include a SARS-CoV-2 search category with variant and lineage filters and a New Released Reagents section listing all of the most recent SARS-CoV-2 items. The BEI Resources Knowledge Base now incorporates the SARS-CoV-2 Frequently Asked Questions on topics related to the ordering process and how to register. Please visit the BEI Resources website and take a look around.
