New Class of Cross-Neutralizing Antibodies Targeting Env V2-Apex
One of the greatest challenges in HIV vaccine development has been overcoming the virus’s ability to mutate rapidly and create diversity. An effective HIV vaccine must stimulate rare precursor B cells of multiple broadly neutralizing antibody (bNAb) lineages, which are crucial in developing immunity against the virus.(1,2)
BEI Resources is supporting this research by offering new recombinant monoclonal antibodies (HRP-20364, HRP-20365, and HRP-20366) cloned from a purified single B cell isolated from a rhesus macaque infected with a chimeric simian-chimpanzee immunodeficiency virus (SCIV-CAM13K), which features an engineered gp120 envelope (Env) protein. This allows the antibodies to recognize epitopes in the variable loop 2 (V2) at the Env glycoprotein trimer apex.(3)
