Malaria Research Program (MRP)

The mission of the Division of Intramural Research (DIR) Malaria Research Program (MRP) is to seek fundamental knowledge about the interactions of malaria parasites with the human host and the mosquito vectors that transmit them and to apply this knowledge to prevent disease, enhance health, and improve the quality of life in malaria endemic areas.

Leadership

The MRP includes the joint interests of three participating autonomous DIR laboratories: Laboratory of Malaria and Vector Research, Laboratory of Malaria Immunology and Vaccinology, and Laboratory of Immunogenetics. The chiefs of these three participating laboratories constitute the Executive Committee (EC). The MRP director, working with the EC, will be responsible for programmatic and operative activities. Investigators

MRP investigators explore the biology of malaria from the perspective of the human host, the Plasmodium parasite, and the mosquito vector and the interactions among them.

Collaborative Research Fellowship

Fellowships will be awarded annually to a limited number of top applicants who aspire to improve our understanding of the biology, host-pathogen interactions, and transmission of malaria parasites
