ARP-2771 is a Simian T-cell lymphotropic virus type 1 (STLV-1) transformed T-cell line from a seropositive baboon (papio cynocephalus).
Restriction digestion patterns and nucleotide sequencing of selected regions of the gag, pol, and px genes show that the baboon-derived STLV-1 isolates are more closely related to HTLV-1 than Japanese macaque-derived STLV-1 isolates.
Growth Characteristics: ARP-2771 grows in suspension in very large clumps. Thaw rapidly, dilute 1:10 in propagation medium, and centrifuge gently. Discard the supernatant and resuspend the cell pellet in fresh growth medium. Feed every 3 to 4 days by discarding 6 mL of medium/cells and adding 6 mL of fresh medium to remaining 1 mL (1:7 split).
Growth Medium: RPMI 1640 supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum, 2 mM L-glutamine and 50 µg per mL gentamicin
ARP-2771 is negative for bacteria, fungi and Mycoplasma. Each vial of ARP-2771 contains approximately 1.2 × 107 cells in growth medium containing 10% dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). Please refer to the appropriate data sheet for lot-specific information.
