In 2002, TARGET (Tuberculosis Animal Research and Gene Evaluation Taskforce) was formed to enable the modeling of human tuberculosis in multiple animal species using defined protocols and testing defined mutants of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tuberculosis). In addition to animal modeling activities, a library of intragenic transposon mutants has been created and characterized. M. tuberculosis, transposon mutant 1308 was created by disruption of a probable glutamate decarboxylase (MT3538, Rv3432c) of the wild-type strain CDC1551.
Each tube contains a Lowenstein-Jensen (LJ) agar slant that was inoculated with 0.1 mL of bacterial culture and incubated 2 to 6 weeks at 37°C.
TARGET: MT3538Tuberculist: Rv3432cORF Description: Glutamate decarboxylase ORF Size: 1383POI: 916
Additional information is available at Mycobacterium tuberculosis CDC1551 Transposon Mutant Library.
This mutant was developed by Lamichhane, et al. at the Center for Tuberculosis Research, The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, PubMed: 12775759.
