Genomic DNA was obtained from a preparation of Anopheles arabiensis (A. arabiensis), strain KGB.

The A. arabiensis, strain KGB colony was originally established around 1975 in the Zambezi Valley of Kanyemba, Zimbabwe by Richard H. Hunt. A. arabiensis, strain KGB is polymorphic for 2Ra, 2Rb, 2Rc, and 3Ra and fixed for the inverted 2La. According to donor, the KGB strain may contain a form of inversion 3Ra that also includes a lethal allele. Recent karyotyping showed that the KGB stock was polymorphic for 2Ra and 2Rb and fixed for the inverted 2La. Genotyping in 2011 found that the KGB stock is polymorphic for 2Rabc and 3Ra inversion.

Each vial of MRA-495 contains approximately 5 µg of genomic DNA in TE buffer. The vial should be centrifuged prior to opening.
