Genomic DNA was extracted from a preparation of Encephalitozoon cuniculi (E. cuniculi), strain CDC:V282 which was obtained from urine collected from an AIDS patient in Colorado, USA in 1993.

E. cuniculi, strain CDC:V282 was deposited to the ATCC ® by G. S. Visvesvara of the CDC. E. cuniculi, strain CDC:V282 is genotype III based on PCR analyses of ITS [internal transcribed spacer of the ribosomal RNA (rRNA) gene], PTP (polar tube protein) and SWP-1 (spore wall protein-1).

NR-13510 has been qualified for PCR applications by amplification of approximately 1200 base pairs of the 18S ribosomal RNA gene.

Each vial contains 2 to 3 µg of dried genomic DNA. The contents of the vial should be rehydrated with molecular grade water or TE buffer (10 mM Tris-HCl and 1 mM EDTA, pH ~ 7.4).  The vial should be centrifuged prior to opening.
