Genomic DNA was isolated from a preparation of cell lysate and supernatant from Cercopithecus aethiops kidney epithelial cells (Vero; ATCC ® CCL-81™) infected with Rickettsia rickettsii (R. rickettsii), strain Smith. The complete genome sequence of R. rickettsii, strain Smith has been determined (GenBank: CP000848).

NR-48825 has been qualified for PCR applications by amplification of an approximately 1150 nucleotide sequence.

Each vial contains 100 µL of bacterial genomic DNA in TE buffer (10 mM Tris-HCl, 1 mM EDTA, pH 7.0). The bacterial genomic DNA is in a background of cellular nucleic acid and carrier RNA. The vial should be centrifuged prior to opening.
