Genomic RNA was isolated from a preparation of cell lysate and supernatant from Chlorocebus aethiops kidney epithelial cells (Vero; ATCC ^® CCL-81™) infected with St. Louis encephalitis virus (SLEV), R119354b. SLEV, R119354b was collected on September 9, 2016, from the cerebrospinal fluid of a human who died of encephalitis in California, USA, and was isolated November 4, 2016.

NR-59878 has been qualified for PCR applications by amplification of an approximately 1000 base pairs of the polyprotein gene.

Each vial contains approximately 100 μL of viral genomic RNA in TE buffer (10 mM Tris-HCl, 1 mM EDTA, pH 8). The viral genomic RNA is in a background of cellular nucleic acid and carrier RNA. The vial should be centrifuged prior to opening.
