Anopheles albimanus (A. albimanus), strain STECLA was originally isolated in Santa Tecla, El Salvador.

This stock was established in 1974 in the United States. It is possible that this stock has been mixed at some point with another 'wild type' A. albimanus stock called 'Apastepeque' that was maintained in the same laboratories. A. albimanus, strain STECLA was generously donated to CDC by Jack A. Seawright.

MRA-133K is suitable for DNA and RNA isolation, protein extraction, etc.

Each kit of MRA-133K contains 10 adult male and 10 adult female wild-type A. albimanus, strain STECLA mosquitoes, which were preserved in liquid nitrogen (quick-frozen) while alive. MRA-133K lot 3953440 is generation F65 of A. albimanus, strain STECLA.
