The mosquito species complex Anopheles gambiae M form strains may also be referred to as Anopheles coluzzii, since a new species designation for these strains has been proposed.
Anopheles gambiae (A. gambiae), strain MOPTI colony was established by Professor G. C. Lanzaro from adult females collected in the field in N'Gabacoro Droit, Mali (12°41'16"N, 7°50'20"W).
A. gambiae, strain MOPTI is a wild-type stock. The laboratory of F. Collins has reported that this stock is polymorphic for a u inversion on the 2R chromosome.
MRA-763 contains a suitable number of eggs to establish a stock. Eggs are provided on damp filter paper and should be hatched immediately upon receipt.
