Aedes albopictus (A. albopictus), strain ATM-NJ95 (also referred to as ATM95) was established in 1995 from mosquito larvae collected in a bucket at a marina in Keyport, NJ, USA.

A. albopictus, strain ATM-NJ95 is a wild type (temperate) strain.

A. albopictus, strain ATM-NJ95 is insecticide susceptible.

A. albopictus is a mosquito vector which may be competent for transmitting chikungunya, dengue, yellow fever and other Arboviruses as well as filarial nematodes including Dirofilaria immitis.

The ATM-NJ95 colony has been characterized for susceptibility to all main insecticide classes and is considered a valid susceptible reference strain for studies of insecticide resistance in temperate A. albopictus. The whole genome sequence of a representative A. albopictus colony is available (GenBank: JXUM00000000).

NR-48979 contains a suitable number of live eggs to establish a stock. Eggs are provided on damp filter paper and should be hatched immediately upon receipt.
