Bacillus anthracis, strain Ames35 is a derivative of the Ames strain that was treated with novobiocin to cure it of the pXO2 plasmid.

The parent strain of strain Ames35 was isolated from a dead cow in Jim Hogg County, Texas in 1981 and was fully virulent, containing both pXO1 and pXO2 plasmids.

Each vial contains approximately 0.5 mL of bacterial culture in 0.5X Tryptic Soy Broth supplemented with 10% glycerol.
