Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus), strain A890259 (also referred to as NRS164) was isolated in 1989 from a wound of a patient in France.

S. aureus, strain A890259 is a clinically associated methicillin-sensitive S. aureus (MSSA) strain. S. aureus, strain A890259 was deposited as negative for mec; positive for the exfoliative toxin gene eta, the leukocidin genes lukE and lukD and the hemolysin genes hla, hld, and hlgv; MLST sequencing type (ST) 15; eGenomic spa type 21; eGenomic spa repeats UJGBBGGJAGJ; Ridom spa type t084; and agr group II.

Each vial contains approximately 0.5 mL of bacterial culture in Tryptic Soy broth supplemented with 10% glycerol.
