The murine hybridoma cell line, 16.3, was generated by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells (P3X63.Ag8.6.5.3) with splenocytes from mice immunized with purified 68 kDa Plasmodium berghei (P. berghei) phosphoprotein associated with the submembrane cytoskeleton of infected erythrocytes. This reagent was authenticated by the contributor and tested for mycoplasma.

Each vial of MRA-659 contains approximately 0.5 mL of hybridoma cells (5 × 106 cells/mL) in cell culture medium supplemented with 10% dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO).

Hybridoma 16.3 produces IgG1 antibody to an approximately 68 kDa P. berghei phosphoprotein associated with the erythrocyte membrane.
