Staphylococcal enterotoxin B (SEB) was purified from Staphylococcus aureus subsp. aureus, FDA 243 (ATCC ® 14458™) culture supernatant by ion exchange chromatography.SEB has a molecular mass of approximately 28 kDa and is heat stable and soluble in water. SEB has a broad spectrum of biological activity, and depending on the portal of entry (e.g. gastrointestinal, respiratory, or mucosal), the toxin will elicit a different clinical syndrome. SEB is the enterotoxin that most commonly causes classic food poisoning. The amino acid sequence of SEB from S. aureus subsp. aureus, strain COL has been determined (GenPept: AAW37877).Each vial of NR-15750 contains approximately 5 mg of SEB suspended in 10 mM phosphate buffer (pH 7.0) containing 150 mM sodium chloride.NR-15750 reacts with rabbit polyclonal antibody to SEB from S. aureus subsp. aureus and stimulates interferon ? production by human T-cells using the ELISPOT assay.
