Recombinant Plasmodium falciparum erythrocyte binding antigen (EBA)-175 RII-non-glycosylated (NG) protein was expressed as a secreted protein and purified from Pichia pastoris, strain X33.

EBA-175 protein is a malaria vaccine candidate and a parasite ligand at the apical end of the Plasmodium falciparum merozoite that binds sialic acids of glycophorin A on the surface of erythrocytes. EBA-175 RII-NG contains the 616 amino acid Region II (RII) with conservative NG mutations.

Each vial contains approximately 500 µg of purified recombinant EBA-175 RII-NG in 6 mM sodium phosphate, 154 mM sodium chloride and 5% w/v sucrose (pH 7.2). Sucrose should be included in storage buffer to prevent dimer formation.
